In the fall of 2024, a Ukrainian immigrant to the U.S. died at the intersection of Dallas Avenue and Reynolds Street in the Point Breeze neighborhood of Pittsburgh. The PASS group formed shortly after, filled with sadness about Vira’s death. We resolved to begin advocating for safer streets so that hopefully her death would be the last death due to motor vehicles in our neighborhood. We want all members of our community to feel safe being out in Point Breeze/Point Breeze North.

After discussion, the PASS group decided to advocate for changes to increase the safety of pedestrians, bikers and cars on the Dallas Avenue Corridor from Wilkins Avenue on the border of Squirrel Hill, through Point Breeze, across Penn Ave. and all the way down to Bennett Street in Homewood. This stretch of road is also designated as State Route 380.

This site is where members of PASS [Point Breeze Advocates for Safe Streets] can gather stories and share events and news about our advocacy efforts. We are not a business; we are a local community group that is troubled by the death of a community member in Fall 2024. We hope that her death is the last one that ever happens on this stretch of Dallas Avenue.
